meet the
designer & artist
hi there! my name is Aaron. i’m a graphic designer & visual artist based in Nogojiwanong-Peterborough, Ontario.
my story
Nestled in the vibrant and creative city of Nogojiwanong-Peterborough, Ontario, I share my lively abode with my fiancé, two delightfully bougie dogs, and an unexpectedly demanding rabbit.
Venturing into the realm of visual art over a decade ago, I’ve always embraced experimentation, be it in media or technique. This spirited approach has endowed me with the ability to work diversely. While I honed my craft in painting and sculpture over the years, a sense of incompleteness lingered. Despite the enriching years at OCADU influencing my art, a piece of the creative puzzle eluded me.
The epiphany came years later during a trip to New Zealand with my fiancé, illuminating the need for a literal redesign of my creative strategy and life. Now attuned to new possibilities, I delved into researching the ideal fusion of my love for art and my innate passion for problem-solving using computers.
The revelation struck on a warm summer afternoon, scooping ice cream for cottage goers.
I’m a graphic designer, and I wholeheartedly embrace it. Viewing design as a natural form of creative problem-solving fuels my passion. I relish taking an idea, playing with it, experimenting to expand its possibilities, and unraveling its potential. Every small idea harbors the potential for greatness with the right approach and strategy. This process, a continual journey of learning, experience, and evolving ideas, resonates with me deeply.
Transitioning into graphic design opened doors to collaborating with diverse clients, from small businesses seeking illustrations and brand transformations to contributing to larger-scale projects within teams. From the Art School of Peterborough to the Art Gallery of Peterborough, United Way, various local and national businesses, I’ve lent my expertise to manage media platforms, execute campaigns, and develop brands and assets for both digital platforms and print media.
Beyond the realms of design and art, you’ll find me unwinding in the garden, strolling with my goofy dogs, or power-walking through the city with tunes blaring. Art creation knows no bounds for me, and during downtime, I delve into new crafting hobbies. Lately, my fascination has centered around printmaking and landscape painting.
Get to know me, and you’ll discover an easy-going individual who sprinkles “No worries” liberally throughout the day. Engaging in casual conversations that evoke laughter or smiles is a favourite pastime of mine.
I respectfully acknowledge that I work and reside on the traditional territory of the Mississauga Anishinaabeg. I offer my gratitude to our First Nations for their care for, and teachings about, our earth and our relations. May I honour those teachings.
