Arthur Shilling: The Final Works

Design
The Arthur Shilling Gallery book project stands as a testament to meticulous strategy and planning, where every design element is purposefully chosen to create a seamless and engaging visual narrative.
A deliberate choice of minimal design was executed to ensure that the artist’s imagery takes centre stage throughout the book. This intentional simplicity allows the audience to immerse themselves fully in the visual richness of Arthur Shilling’s work, making it the unequivocal focal point.
The unique challenge encountered in this project was the incorporation of images within the constraints of printing the book in three different languages—English, French, and Anishinaabe. This intricacy required a meticulous approach where the visual content remained static while allowing for dynamic text placement in multiple languages, creating a harmonious blend of imagery and narrative.
The resulting book is not just a compilation of Arthur Shilling’s art; it’s a thoughtful and strategic design endeavor. Each page is a careful balance of visual and textual elements, offering a cohesive and immersive experience for readers across diverse linguistic backgrounds. This project exemplifies the successful intersection of design expertise, cultural sensitivity, and strategic planning.
